MWD

Hello, my name is Matt Casas, and Midwest Depressed is the band I started. The name comes from a song/poem I wrote called The Midwest Is Depressed, released on SoundCloud in 2015 and published by Scenic Route in 2016.

Though MWD began as a solo project, it quickly found life in a band format. We have performed at O'Leavers, Down Under Lounge, Lookout Lounge (RIP), Waiting Room Lounge, Dr. Jack's Drinkery, Barley Street Tavern, The B Side Theatre, Recycled Sounds, The Well, and 1867 bar. We have opened for bands such as Jeff Rosenstock and Remo Drive.

There have been different iterations of members over the years. Today, the two core members of the band are myself and singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Maya Duis.
